The Southern Electronics Difference

Why Customers Choose Southern Electronics

Nearly a century of relationships. Four generations of service. The products you need from people you can count on.

Privately Owned Woman Owned Fourth Generation Serving All 50 States
Some companies are built around transactions. Ours was built around relationships. Family owned since 1932.

Customers have more choices than ever when deciding where to purchase industrial, electrical, automation, networking, audiovisual, security, and technology products.

At Southern Electronics, we believe the supplier you choose should provide more than a catalog and a price. You deserve responsive people, experienced guidance, flexible sourcing, honest communication, and a company that values your business.

Whether you are located in southeast Louisiana or across the country, our goal is the same: make doing business easier and earn the opportunity to help you again.

Built With Sacrifice

A family business with a story worth remembering.

Southern Electronics was founded in New Orleans in 1932 by a German immigrant from Rupertsberg, Germany, and the local woman he married.

The company originally operated as Southern Radio Supply, buying and selling radio tubes during the early days of the electronics industry.

To help afford the rent for their first building, our great-grandmother sold her wedding dress.

That sacrifice helped begin a company that remains privately owned, woman owned, and operated by the fourth generation of the Perrin family.

The technologies, manufacturers, and markets we serve have changed dramatically over the decades. The belief that taking care of customers builds something lasting has not.

Capability Without the Corporate Experience
Big enough to deliver. Small enough to care.

Southern Electronics has supported complex, multimillion-dollar projects while continuing to provide personal attention to customers purchasing a single replacement component.

We understand that the size of an order does not always reflect its importance. One relay, cable, sensor, power supply, camera, or network component can be critical to an operation.

You will not be treated as an account number moving through a national call center. You will work with real people who are committed to understanding what you need and helping you move forward.

Local Roots. Nationwide Reach.

Rooted in Louisiana. Trusted Nationwide.

For nearly a century, Southern Electronics has called New Orleans home. Today, we proudly serve customers throughout all 50 states while continuing to provide the personal service, long-term relationships, and responsive support that have defined our company since 1932.

For Gulf Coast Customers

Your local purchasing partner.

Many members of our team were born and raised in this region. When local businesses choose Southern Electronics, they support local jobs, local families, local schools, charitable organizations, and the broader community we all share.

For Customers Across the Country

Personal service without geographic limits.

We serve customers in all 50 states and offer coordination for international orders. Special-order products can be brought into our facility and released using a customer-provided shipping label or a carrier arranged by the customer.

Creative Product Sourcing

When others stop looking, we keep working.

A manufacturer backorder, discontinued product, or difficult application does not always have a simple answer. That is where supplier relationships and experience matter.

When lead times matter, we don’t stop at the first answer. If alternate inventory is available through another source, we’ll explain the options—including cost and delivery—so you can decide what makes the most sense for your project.
01

Hard-to-Find Products

We search beyond standard catalog availability to help locate products that are difficult to find through traditional channels.

02

Obsolete Components

We help explore remaining inventory, replacements, updated models, and potential alternatives for discontinued products.

03

Cross-Reference Solutions

Our team works with manufacturers and suppliers to identify comparable products when the original brand or model is unavailable.

04

Backorder Options

We look for alternate inventory and present the available timing and cost options so customers can make informed decisions.

05

Hundreds of Manufacturer Relationships

Access to hundreds of manufacturers allows us to evaluate more than one path toward solving a purchasing requirement.

06

Project Coordination

We help organize products, suppliers, availability, shipping, and communication for larger and more complex orders.

85+ Years of combined experience from two members of our direct sales team.
Experience You Can Reach

Knowledge built through decades of solving real customer problems.

Product knowledge is valuable. Knowing how to navigate manufacturers, availability, substitutions, project schedules, shipping challenges, and changing customer requirements is equally important.

Our customers benefit from professionals who have spent decades learning the industries, products, and relationships needed to move an order from request to delivery.

Direct Access to Real People

Speak with sales, purchasing, and support personnel who understand your request.

Long-Term Manufacturer Relationships

Decades in business have helped us develop trusted relationships throughout the supplier community.

Support Beyond the Initial Order

We remain involved when an order requires updates, corrections, warranty help, returns, or additional coordination.

More Than a Distributor

We do more than enter part numbers.

Our role is to help customers reduce friction, evaluate options, coordinate details, and keep important orders and projects moving.

What We Believe

Nearly a century. One enduring philosophy.

The products have changed. The generations have changed. The principles behind how we serve customers have not.

01

Relationships matter.

The strongest business partnerships are built over years, not individual transactions.

02

Service should be personal.

Customers deserve responsive people who understand their business and respect their time.

03

Every order matters.

A single component can be just as important as an entire facility project.

04

Keep looking for an answer.

When the obvious path does not work, experience and persistence help uncover new options.

05

Earn the next opportunity.

Every quote, order, project, and conversation is another chance to earn a customer's trust.

Proudly rooted in New Orleans. Supporting the community that has supported our family for generations.
Investing in Our Community

Local ownership should create a local impact.

Being headquartered in Louisiana means more to us than having a local address. This is where many members of our team were born and raised, where our families live, and where our company has grown for generations.

Southern Electronics ownership contributes time and financial support to local schools, charitable organizations, community events, and the traditions that make New Orleans unique.

When regional customers choose Southern Electronics, a greater portion of that economic activity remains connected to the people, organizations, and communities of this region.

Support for local schools and educational organizations
Financial contributions to local charities and events
Personal participation and volunteer time from ownership
Active participation in New Orleans community traditions
Our goal has never been simply to become the largest distributor. It is to be the distributor our customers trust first.
The Perrin Family

We would appreciate the opportunity to earn your business.

Whether you are replacing one critical component, searching for a difficult-to-find product, coordinating a major project, or simply looking for a more personal purchasing experience, our team is ready to help.
